Malcolm Rogers

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

It’s with sadness that I have to report that, Malcolm Rogers one of the founding members of the club has passed away.

In his day, Mal was a hard tackling defender whose sweeping tackles often took forwards by surprise and usually the ball off the end of their sticks. In his later years he was a regular umpire for both the men’s and ladies sides until recently when ill health meant that he had to stop umpiring. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.

Our condolences go to his wife Audrey and the rest of the Rogers’ family.

Welcome back for the second half of another fine season.

With snow on the ground in most places, and potentially more to come, January games may well bring a set of postponements and/or rearrangements. In such circumstances all clubs are reminded to reschedule games as early as possible and keep their Divisional Administrator aware of dates and times once known.

For the games that are played to schedule over the coming Saturdays – the texting of results is now MANDATORY for all 2nd XI, 3rd XI and Central Leagues. These results may be by the home side OR the away side – or both – and MUST be received by the system as soon as possible after the game. Captains may well confer and agree as to who is best placed to post each result – but teams that repeatedly fail to post their results can expect to be fined in line with Rule 18.6. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED …

Full details on texting results can be found on the MRHA web page.

Forum coming soon…

Many people have asked “Will there be a forum?”, “Where has the forum gone?”.

Will there be a forum?

The short answer is of course there will be a forum. I want to make sure that when it is released, it works and links in as much as possible with the current website.

Where has the forum gone?

I’m afraid the old forum has been lost for all of time into the ether of the internet! Sadly this means that all users will be required to register again when the new forum appears. This registration will hopefully be pretty self explanatory when it becomes available.

Please stay patient, hopefully won’t be too much longer. I know it can be a vital communication channel for captains, committee members and players alike.

Do things look a little strange?

If you are using Internet Explorer then blame Microsoft! If not, then please let me know.

I have currently been unable to test and develop the site for Internet Explorer. This may cause some issues regarding the way the site appears; I believe Internet Explorer 6 will be the worst affected.

I would suggest upgrading your browser if using Internet Explorer 6, however I this isn’t always possible (office and old computers especially) so I will be working hard to fix most of the issues with IE6, please bare with me.
