It’s with sadness that I have to report that, Malcolm Rogers one of the founding members of the club has passed away.
In his day, Mal was a hard tackling defender whose sweeping tackles often took forwards by surprise and usually the ball off the end of their sticks. In his later years he was a regular umpire for both the men’s and ladies sides until recently when ill health meant that he had to stop umpiring. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
Our condolences go to his wife Audrey and the rest of the Rogers’ family.

Welcome back for the second half of another fine season.
With snow on the ground in most places, and potentially more to come, January games may well bring a set of postponements and/or rearrangements. In such circumstances all clubs are reminded to reschedule games as early as possible and keep their Divisional Administrator aware of dates and times once known.
For the games that are played to schedule over the coming Saturdays – the texting of results is now MANDATORY for all 2nd XI, 3rd XI and Central Leagues. These results may be by the home side OR the away side – or both – and MUST be received by the system as soon as possible after the game. Captains may well confer and agree as to who is best placed to post each result – but teams that repeatedly fail to post their results can expect to be fined in line with Rule 18.6. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED …
Full details on texting results can be found on the MRHA web page.

Not much to report on the tour front as of late except for two little things.
1. I have not recieved a single deposit from anybody as of yet, even though there has been alot of interest shown. If you want to come please let me know the details of your stay by emailing tour@jimgurmin.co.uk and then get me a £10 deposit as soon as possible.
2. Having spoken to Reg recently it would appear that most people have now paid their annual subs to the club. As a result of this there I cannot see any reason for tour bookings to be limited to fully paid up members of the club. So if you happen to know of anybody who is not a fully paid up member of the club but wishes to join us, please ask them to get in touch with me via the email address in section 1 and to get a deposit to me as soon as possible.
Apart from that there really isn’t much to report except for the fact that I have informed Dick that we will be entering two sides as usual (mens & vets) and to remind you that if you want to start paying your hotel bill now that’s fine, the club will hold on to your money and then pay it to the hotel on your behalf in the days leading up to our arrival. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to track me down to ask me them or alternatively send me an email to the above address.

Dudley Sport & Physical Activity team will be at the club house on Monday 9th November between 7.30 and 8.30pm to conduct the CRB checks for the club. Many of you have already received your SEAL packs which I would ask you (if you havent already done so ) complete and hand in to the team on 9.11.09.
THE CHECKS ARE FREE UNDER ” SEAL”
Seal packs can be downloaded via
seal@dudley.gov.uk.
The CRB checks apply to all coaches and volunteers of under 18s, committee members and club officials.
You are asked to bring the following with you if applicable:
- Coaching certificates (original and a copy)
- Child Protection certificates (original and a copy)
- Equity course certificates (original and a copy)
- First Aid certificates (original and a copy)
- AND YOU MUST BRING TWO PASSPORT SIZED PHOTOS
Dudley Sports are putting themselves out to visit the club house so late and assist with the club achieving the Club First accreditation, I would ask that you all attend. The main room has been booked for the visit.
A funding application to England Hockey will be submitted this week for a new astro at Wassall Grove. One of the funding conditions is that the club is awarded The Clubs First accreditation prior to February 2010. We are well on the way to reaching that date but clearly without the CRB checks we would not qualify for accreditation.

Paying For Accommodation
It has been agreed with the club that we will be allowing people to start paying money towards thier accommodation from this Saturday (17th October 2009). The club will hold this money for you and then pay it to the hotel on your behalf leaving you only the unpaid balance (if any) to pay on arrival. This should make Tour less of a hit on your wallets come Easter next year. For example, if you pay £10 a week towards your accomodation from 17th October 2009, a stay of four nights (£160) could be fully paid for by the start of February 2010.
