Weston Tour 2010

We are booked into the Royal Grosvenor Hotel in Weston-Super-Mare for the 2010 Easter weekend (1st – 5th April). We will be entering both mens and vetrans teams into the Breen Hockey Festival that will run from Good Friday through to Easter Sunday.

Initially, tour will only be available to fully paid up members of Old Halesonians Hockey Club so if you wish to book a room, see Reg and pay your annual subs. I have managed to secure 15 twin rooms (it’s all they had left), 6 of which will sleep 3 people (1 double and 1 single bed) and the remaining 9 will accommodate 2 people. All booking requests must be made via email to tour [at] jimgurmin [dot] co [dot] uk so that I have all the information in one place. Please remember to specify the nights you will require a room for and if you have a preference for who you would like to be sharing a room with. I will try my best to accommodate all requests.

Rooms will cost £40 per person per night and all bookings require a deposit of £10 per person which I will be collecting once I have received your email booking request and confirmation of receipt of annual subs from Reg. In the unlikely event that there are still rooms available 2 weeks before the event, these rooms will be opened up to whoever wants them providing they pay or have paid a social membership of £20.

I will also look into the feasibility of putting some sort of savings scheme into effect to allow people to start paying money towards accommodation between now and Tour. Keep you eyes on here for more information as it becomes available…

Forum coming soon…

Many people have asked “Will there be a forum?”, “Where has the forum gone?”.

Will there be a forum?

The short answer is of course there will be a forum. I want to make sure that when it is released, it works and links in as much as possible with the current website.

Where has the forum gone?

I’m afraid the old forum has been lost for all of time into the ether of the internet! Sadly this means that all users will be required to register again when the new forum appears. This registration will hopefully be pretty self explanatory when it becomes available.

Please stay patient, hopefully won’t be too much longer. I know it can be a vital communication channel for captains, committee members and players alike.

Do things look a little strange?

If you are using Internet Explorer then blame Microsoft! If not, then please let me know.

I have currently been unable to test and develop the site for Internet Explorer. This may cause some issues regarding the way the site appears; I believe Internet Explorer 6 will be the worst affected.

I would suggest upgrading your browser if using Internet Explorer 6, however I this isn’t always possible (office and old computers especially) so I will be working hard to fix most of the issues with IE6, please bare with me.

Getting involved.

We welcome players, coaches, umpires and parents of all ages and abilities.

All senior players considering joining us are welcome to come along to club training on Tuesday evenings at Four Dwellings High School. This would be an ideal oppourtunity to talk to both current players and coaches.

Specialist coaching is provided by our many qualified coaches on Sunday mornings for junior players at Windsor High School. Parents are encouraged to come along and talk to coaches and parents. For more details please view the ‘Juniors’ pages or feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
